Universal
Blended White Cement™ is a high performance cement that
contains a patented formula of natural and highly reactive pozzolans.
Pozzolans are found in geologic deposits and are an effective
method used to improve the quality of cement.
When
cement reacts with water it undergoes two major reactions. One
reaction is the formation of calcium hydroxide compounds which
are porous, unstable and are easily susceptible to aggressive
water and chemical attack. Calcium hydroxide can amount to as
much as 25% of the cement, by volume.
The unique
blend of pozzolans in the Universal White Cement™ react
with the calcium hydroxide and turn it into a fibrous cluster
like network forming a dense cement matrix. The improved water
tightness reduces the amount of water and chemicals that can
infiltrate the cement matrix and cause it's early deterioration
and breakdown.
Reducing
the amount of calcium hydroxide is the key to a stronger and
longer lasting cement.
